Today is Social Prescribing Day 2025!
This is an annual celebration of social prescribing, recognising Social Prescribing Link Workers, local community groups and regional and national organisations which support people’s health and wellbeing.
Here at PGPA we employ social prescribers who work within 4 of the Primary Care Networks supporting primary care in Calderdale.
So, what do they like about their jobs?
“I joined PGPA as a Social Prescribing Link Worker in 2022. My previous roles have been in various settings with vulnerable groups since 2006 and my background is in family support and person centred counselling. I like the fact that we do a holistic assessment of the patient’s needs to find out what matters to them. By exploring their goals and barriers we can then link them with services to improve their health and wellbeing. This is tailored to the individual so it can be anything from an art class to debt support, mobility support or befriending services. It’s a varied and sometimes challenging role but it’s also rewarding.” – Jenna McAdam, Central Halifax PCN
“I love working as a Social Prescriber. I am able to help people on a daily basis so the job is emotionally rewarding for me. I love the fact that I get to learn new things every day as there is so much variety in the things I am supporting patients with. Working in Upper Calder Valley is brilliant, I have an amazing supportive team led by the best management” – Nadia Sethi, Upper Calder Valley PCN
“I love this role for the variety of supporting/signposting different people of different ages from the practice. Works days are all different and I love that our service helps make a difference to patient care in the Upper Calder Valley PCN.” – Irene Lumb, Upper Calder Valley PCN.
We want to thank all 19 of our Social Prescribing Link Workers for the work they do everyday to support patients in Calderdale 👏
