Calder & Ryburn PCN arranged a day of celebration at Elland Community Hub. The Celebration of Older People event was designed to honour the contributions of older members of our community while fostering new opportunities for social connection and engagement.
Over 140 patients attended the day to try out taster sessions or speak to local services.
This event was a vital one to link with the PCNs Integrated Neighbourhood Team priorities of reducing loneliness. By providing an option to try out tasters, it means patients are more likely to attend going forward as they know what they can expect.
16 organisations attended, running a range of taster sessions from Line Dancing, Singing, Seated Exercise, French and Spanish, and a wellbeing walk.
Other organisations attended to provide information on other local activities and groups as well as health help such as Vitaminds and Fire Service.
Feedback from services:
Dawn, AgeUK and Calderdale Dementia Hub – “It was a good event, and we managed to have several good chats with people. Not only your clients but the social prescribers who didn’t know about some of our offers etc. I brought a list of contacts back with me of people who want to donate items, who want further information and much more, so yes I found it really useful.”
June, Memory Lane Cafe – “Overall I found it to be a well-organised event with plenty of people coming in (so well advertised as well. Food was good and, apart from proper visitors, we had lots of networking going on. We picked up a number of positive enquiries and it was certainly a good use of our time. Thank you”
