Dr. Asif Yaseen is the Medical Director of Pennine GP Alliance (PGPA), where he leads clinical strategy and ensures services adhere to best practices in primary care. In this role, Asif focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across Calderdale, while advancing PGPA’s services to adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape.
Asif has been involved with PGPA since its inception 10 years ago, first serving as Chairman. In this early leadership role, he steered the organisation through its formative years. In January 2025, Asif transitioned to his current role as Medical Director, a position that better reflects his focus on clinical expertise and strategic development.
A GP principal for over 20 years at Boulevard Medical Practice, Asif has a deep understanding of primary care. He has also been a GP Trainer for 15 years, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of healthcare professionals. Additionally, Asif has contributed to the wider healthcare community as a board member of the Local Medical Committee (LMC) for three years and as Vice Chair of the Primary Care Strategy Group for two years.
Asif’s areas of expertise include clinical leadership, strategic development, and improving patient care pathways. He is committed to enhancing the patient experience and creating effective, accessible, and collaborative healthcare solutions within the community. His vision for PGPA is to ensure the organisation remains a cornerstone of primary care in Calderdale, continuing to support local practices and improve patient outcomes. By fostering collaboration and adapting to changing healthcare demands, Asif aims to keep PGPA at the forefront of innovative care delivery.
PGPA has already made a significant impact on the local community, and Asif is dedicated to continuing this progress. He is proud of the organisation’s achievements, such as introducing innovative care models and strengthening primary care through the effective use of PCN ARRS roles. These initiatives have improved access to care, reduced health inequalities, and enhanced community wellbeing across Calderdale.
For Asif, the most rewarding aspect of his role is seeing the tangible outcomes of PGPA’s initiatives—whether through improved patient access, better healthcare outcomes, or strengthened collaboration among local practices. He strongly believes in the power of teamwork and is committed to building trust and empowering others to contribute to the organisation’s goals.
As a leader, Asif embodies qualities of clear vision, effective communication, and collaboration. He works closely with his fellow Board members to ensure decisions are informed by both clinical expertise and operational goals. By encouraging open dialogue and sharing insights, Asif helps align PGPA’s strategic direction with the needs of patients and healthcare professionals alike.
Asif’s connection to healthcare is deeply personal. Growing up in Calderdale and continuing to live and work in the area, he remains committed to improving the health and wellbeing of his local community. His experience working closely with local practices has reinforced his belief in the dedication of healthcare professionals to improving patients’ lives. This connection drives his commitment to shaping healthcare delivery on a broader scale.
Outside of work, Asif finds balance through a variety of activities. He enjoys travelling, walking, listening to audiobooks and playing squash. He also stays grounded through his involvement as a member and Trustee of his local mosque, which allows him to stay connected to his community. Additionally, Asif’s role as a GP trainer keeps him inspired, as working with aspiring doctors encourages him to innovate and embrace new ideas.
