Launching in 2026, PGPA is pleased to introduce the GP Service Enhancement Team (GPSET) – a new service designed to strengthen support for GP practices across Calderdale by drawing on PGPA’s existing operational expertise.
GPSET brings together the knowledge, skills, and experience of PGPA’s established operational staff, creating a coordinated offer that can be deployed flexibly to support practices when they need it most. This service is supported by the Calderdale Local Medical Committee (LMC)
Why PGPA developed GPSET
GP practices across Calderdale are operating in an increasingly complex and pressured environment. PGPA recognised that while significant expertise already exists within the organisation, there was an opportunity to bring this knowledge together in a more structured, responsive way for the direct benefit of practices.
By developing a robust case for investment, PGPA sought to go the extra mile for Calderdale practices – demonstrating our commitment to supporting them through challenge, recovery and improvement. Securing dedicated funding allows PGPA to release and coordinate existing expertise in a way that is timely, proactive, and impactful.
What GPSET offers
The GP Service Enhancement Team provides targeted, hands-on support to practice teams, using the skills of PGPA’s experienced operational staff to:
- Provide immediate support during times of crisis
- Support proactive planning to help prevent issues before they arise
GPSET can assist with:
- Operational planning
- HR support
- Communications
- Finance
- CQC readiness
- …and much more
Support will be tailored to individual practice needs and delivered in partnership with practice teams, focusing on practical solutions and sustainable improvement.
Funding and delivery
GPSET is a PGPA-led service, funded by the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), with support from the Local Medical Committee (LMC). Funding will be used to enable PGPA to deploy and coordinate existing operational expertise, ensuring practices across Calderdale can access additional support capacity at times of greatest need.
