Chloe Nowland is an Active Travel Hub Coordinator working within the Lower Valley Primary Care Network (PCN). Her work focuses on promoting active travel and supporting community initiatives that encourage more people to walk, cycle, and access sustainable transport options, while working closely with local partners to improve opportunities across the area.
Before joining PGPA, Chloe balanced her studies alongside part-time work at McDonald’s. She was drawn to PGPA because of its strong focus on community wellbeing and its commitment to creating more accessible opportunities for people to be active, noting that it aligned closely with her own interests and values.
Although new to the role, Chloe has already found it rewarding and motivating. She particularly values the community impact of her work and the opportunity to see real change taking place on the ground. As she explains, “what I enjoy most is the opportunity to make a real difference in the community… it feels rewarding to see the direct impact of the work.”
In her day-to-day role, Chloe highlights communication, organisation and adaptability as key skills, especially when working across a range of community groups and partner organisations. She is already developing confidence in bringing people together and supporting practical initiatives such as bike training and active travel activities.
Looking ahead, Chloe is keen to continue building her career in health, wellbeing and community engagement, with aspirations to move into a leadership or project development role in the future. She sees her current position as an important step in that journey, providing hands-on experience and opportunities to work collaboratively across the system.

She also values the culture at PGPA, particularly the supportive and collaborative environment. “The strong sense of community and collaboration really stands out,” she says. “There’s a genuine focus on making a difference rather than just delivering services.” She also highlights the importance of her colleagues in helping her settle into the role -, especially her line manager Libby Watson-Long – describing them as a key source of encouragement and support.
Outside of work, Chloe is currently completing her master’s degree at university. In her limited free time, she enjoys meeting friends for walks or drinks, taking part in a weekly pub quiz, and unwinding with some colouring at home.
Chloe’s enthusiasm for community impact, combined with her developing experience in active travel, makes her a welcome addition to the PGPA team as she begins her journey in the organisation.
